Exploring the country
As the country is not very big, everything in Bulgaria is easily accessible. Whether you like mountains, lakes or beautiful beaches, Bulgaria has it all. And close nearby. The distance from one end of the country to the other is about 500 km, which makes travelling easy and fast. The same goes for the cities, which have a well-developed public transportation network!
Bulgaria is a country with thousands of years of history and cultural heritage that embraces ancient civilizations. Visitors will find unique archaeological sites and ancient settlements, architectural reserves, ethnographic complexes, churches and monasteries, Tekkes (mosques), among many others. The natural landscape of Bulgaria is diverse, consisting of lowlands, plains, foothills and plateaus, river valleys, basins, and mountains of varying elevations. About 70% of the country’s territory is hilly land and 30% is mountainous. Bulgaria is one the spa capital of Europe, with as many as 225 mineral and thermal springs.
