Icelandic is the official language of Iceland. English is spoken widely and Danish is the third language taught in schools in Iceland.

While many Icelanders speak excellent English, knowing the local language makes it easier to form deeper relationships, navigate work and community settings, and understand Iceland’s rich literary and historical traditions.
